Matthew Edward Ometz

Of Morningside, age 61, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2022. Beloved spouse of Phillip M. Herrington. Brother of Farris Welsh (Joseph) of Ohio and Joseph Ometz (Rosanne) of Ligonier, PA. Brother-in-law of David Herrington (Patrick Journet), Larry Herrington (Laura), Sherri Herrington, and Cheryl Daniels (Paul). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Ometz, and a niece. Matt spent the last 27 years working as the Pro Bono Legal Network Coordinator at Allies for Health + Wellbeing (formerly Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force) ensuring the civil and legal rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.
