Joyce Ann Reese

Of Point Breeze, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

She was born to the late Burton and Lissi Reese on June 18, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joyce graduated from Wilkinsburg High School and later earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Joyce’s work career includes the Nabisco Company, the U.S. Steel Corporation, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Public School system.

In 1995, Joyce not only changed jobs, but she also changed her life’s mission and became a foster parent. From that point on, her life was dedicated to caring for children. Joyce was acknowledged as “Foster Parent of the Year” on many occasions.

Joyce is survived by her children: Zachary, Jessica, Christopher, Clarissa, Donald, Henderson, Taylor, Savannah, and Samone, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other family and friends.  Joyce is also survived by sisters Judy, Darlene, and Frieda Reese George (Steven) (Philadelphia, PA); brother Donald (Monica) and sister-in-law LaWade Garris (Upper Marlboro, MD). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Burton “Burky” and David and her sister Melanee.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a graveside service at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park, 121 Colorado Street, Verona PA 15147.
