Genevieve Garvin-Isaac

Of Penn Hills, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Seneca Manor. She is survived by her children, Helen Sims (Greg) of NC, Alan Isaac (Miriam) of St. Paul, MN, and Donna Isaac (David Hosmer) of Wilkinsburg; four grandchildren, Matthew Grannemman (Andrea), Hannah Grannemann (Joseph Florence), Kaia Isaac, and Ethan Isaac; four great-grandchildren, William, Peter, Elliot, and Nora Genevieve. Preceded in death by her former husband Harold Isaac, her son Philip Isaac, her brother Clifton Garvin, and her half-sister Edith Menck.

Genevieve attended high school in Plum Borough and Connolly Trade School in Pittsburgh where she learned drafting. She was part of the WWII effort as a draftswoman with Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. She earned a bachelors degree from Carlow University and two masters degrees, the first in Psychology from Duquesne University and the second in Early Childhood Development from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked for the Allegheny County Health Department, played violin in the Westinghouse Community Orchestra, and was a faithful member of Calvary Episcopal Church where she volunteered as a librarian for the choirs.

Genevieve will be laid to rest privately at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park in Verona. A memorial service will be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Calvary Episcopal Church, www.calvarypgh.org
