Brad "Woody" Drennan
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Brad "Woody" Drennan of Cheswick PA, who passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the age of 58, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Brad grew up in Springdale, just outside of Pittsburgh, and excelled as a high school athlete, thespian and honor student. He cheered and cursed the "Stillers" with the best of them and carried his "yinzer" upbringing with pride. Brad earned a college degree from Washington and Jefferson College but received his education pursuing his life-long passion, entertaining and teaching life-lessons through comedy.
His love of movies and being on stage led Brad to Hollywood where, for over two decades, he developed his interest in improv comedy and endless stories of encounters with celebrities. It was there the Woody persona was born. As a consummate showman, Woody loved to talk about movies and music and impress you with his, sometimes painfully detailed, knowledge of both. Whether on stage or at family gatherings, he loved to make people laugh and saw humor in virtually every human experience. But even more important than Woody's love for performing, was his desire to pass on his knowledge and experience through teaching improv comedy. Woody created Unplanned Comedy Theater to fulfill this passion. Through his teachings he took much pride in transforming a shy often introverted student into a confident and expressive individual. His students loved his classes, and appreciated the patience, energy, and spirit he brought to each lesson.
Woody is survived by his brothers Todd and Kirk Drennan, several cousins, nieces, nephews and a plethora of friends. Keep them laughing Woody, and "Stay Gold."
Burial will be private. Friends are invited to celebrate Brad's life at a memorial gathering at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park, 121 Colorado Street, Verona PA 15147, on Saturday, October 5, from 1:00 to 3:00pm.
